A partnership to aid your personal development

The Lifewide Development Award is underpinned by the idea of learning partnerships - in which participants are encouraged and helped to think about their learning and development by a mentor who is a member of the lifewide education community.






When you register for the Award you will be assigned a mentor whose role is to:

1) periodically (eg. once every two weeks) check the progress you are making by visiting your on-line diary and where appropriate add comment or questions to help you reflect more deeply or see something from another perspective. Through this process your mentor is building a picture of how you are trying to develop yourself.

2)  over the time you are involved in the award your mentor will hold three on-line conversations with you to discuss your experiences, and find out what you have leaned and how you have developed. You can use the video chat rooms on this website to talk to your mentor. Your mentor will also be interested in your plans for further development. The timing of these conversations will be a matter for negotiation perhaps  1) within the first few weeks 2) at 3 months and 3) at five months.

3)  receive and review your summary account which draws together what you have learnt and how you have realised your developmental needs and interests over the time you have been involved in the award. The conversations will be conducted through skype or our own oovoo site.

4) complete a report for the Lifewide Development  Award Committee with their recommendation based on their knowledge of your development process and the evidence you have provided.
